1946-1956 – Ambulance history

In 1946, we bought another Henney ambulance from Philadelphia. In 1948, we bought a new Cadillac ambulance. In 1956, we had a new Chevrolet panel truck built to our specifications. We gave permission for other squads to purchase this type of work rig from the Franklin Body Company.

1945 – Wall First Aid Squad helps to organize the Monmouth County Association of First Aid Squads

In 1945, on March 6, we helped organize the Monmouth County Association of First Aid Squads. It was started by 7 squads at a meeting held by Bradley Beach First Aid Squad.

1941 – The Squad acquires another ambulance

Another ambulance was acquired on July 27, 1941. It was a 1932 Henney from Philadelphia. Later it was found it had a cracked crank shaft. We bought the Lewis Farm House and some ground on Monmouth Boulevard for $100 from Wall Township in early 1942. Plans were made to change the Lewis home into a first aid building. 1941 – The Squad has it’s first minstrel

Our first minstrel was on January 17, 1941 at Belmar Grammar School ($25 rent). Made $137.75. We repeated the minstrel in Osbornville for half of the proceeds ($29).

1940 – Best Squad Award

We had a N.J. State First Aid Field Day on September 7, 1940 at the Belmar Boardwalk, where the Wall Township First Aid Squad won a trophy for the best equipped squad under a year.
